Collaboration Formalized Between Dutch Hardt Hyperloop and Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, FS Italiane Group, for Continued Hyperloop Study
The partnership between the FS Italiane Group, through Rete Ferroviaria Italiana, and Hardt Hyperloop on a new hyperloop transport system has been formalized through an extension of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will ensure the continuation of a joint study, further research, and innovation activities.
In 2020, Hardt Hyperloop, the European leader in the sector, which has built the first full-scale experimental test site in operation in Europe and is the beneficiary of around EUR 20 million in funding from EU organizations, partnered with Rete Ferroviaria Italiana (RFI) for its notable expertise in the European railway sector. RFI’s competent skills and specific know-how on railway technologies – in particular on railway traffic management, signalling, and control – in combination with Hardt’s advanced hyperloop technology, will contribute to the development of certain future hyperloop subsystems. The existing collaboration has enabled RFI to acquire greater knowledge of new infrastructure and technological systems and its potential applicability in the specific national context.
The continuation of the studies will also make it possible to analyze – through specific technical-economic feasibility studies – the possible hyperloop corridors of greater value for passenger and freight traffic, in synergy with the national network managed by RFI, also in view of the integration with possible developments in the European transport network.
This collaboration is an opportunity to participate in the construction of future mobility scenarios, fostering innovation in the area of new collective transport solutions in view of sustainable development, in a sector that the World Economic Forum included among the "20 markets of tomorrow" capable of transforming our economies.
