Groningen, home to the European Hyperloop Center

We look back on a great gathering last Thursday, where we unveiled the infrastructure prototype for the European Hyperloop Center(EHC) and celebrated that Groningen will be home to the EHC.

A big thank you to all our guests and speakers for sharing their knowledge and enthusiasm. Dr. Alan James shared his expert view on the importance of the EHC and hyperloop creating super regions  (click to watch presentation), The Netherlands’ State Secretary of Infrastructure & Water Management Stientje van Veldhoven shared an inspiring video message on enabling innovation and the Ministries support in the hyperloop development (click to watch video message), and there was a fireside chat with students, VNO-NCW, Hanzehogeschool Groningen / Hanze University of Applied Sciences Groningen, Hardt Hyperloop and the City of Gemeente Groningen about the opportunities that the hyperloop presents.

Also, it was amazing to see viewers from all over the world join us in Groningen via live stream! Guests from no less than 12 countries have joined us online. The live stream has been recorded, so if you weren’t able to join us on the 10th, we gladly invite you to watch below. A recap video of the event and transport of the prototype to Groningen will follow this Thursday!

BNR Mobility Podcast with Jeroen in 't Veld and Mars Geuze

Earlier last week, Jeroen in 't Veld Chairman of the Hyperloop Development Program Foundation and Mars Geuze spoke to BNR for their mobility podcast on jointly realizing this 5th mode of transportation with major public and private partners, with the European Hyperloop Center in Groningen as the next step towards a potential 300 billion euro market and The Netherlands’ front-runner's position in all of this. Listen to the podcast here. (please mind the segment is in Dutch)

Jeroen: “knowing that in the coming 30 years the demand for transportation will triple, makes the question of whether it competes with other modalities or not quite irrelevant. The question is how on earth are we going to facilitate this growth and at the same time achieve our sustainability goals”
