”Alone we can go faster, together we can go further”
We are involved in a variety of partnerships and initiatives that foster research and development,
promote collaboration and strengthen the hyperloop ecosystem.

Hyperloop development program

The Hyperloop Development Program is a public-private partnership between the Dutch Ministries of Economics & Climate and Infrastructure & Water Management, the Dutch Province of Groningen and a group of industry parties and knowledge and research institutions. It is dedicated to developing hyperloop as a safe, sustainable and commercially viable mode of high-speed transportation and to bringing the hyperloop technology to commercialization.

Hardt is the initiator of this project and plays a crucial role within it by performing major parts of the research itself, as well as being responsible for general organization and coordination of the project and its ecosystem.

European hyperloop center

The EHC is an open innovation center, located in the province of Groningen, the Netherlands, that will be home to developers from around the world to test and validate their hyperloop technologies. It’s a place where high-tech companies, industry and science are working together on the transportation system of the future, accelerating the development of hyperloop.

In 2023, the EHC will open its 2.7 km test track for speeds up to 700 km/h for testing of hyperloop (sub)systems. It will be open to any company and knowledge organization that wants to develop, demonstrate and validate its hyperloop technology.

PLANET

This research project is funded under the EU Horizon 2020 research program and focuses on achieving progress towards federated logistics through the integration of TEN-T into a global trade network. It was started in June 2020 and runs until May 2023. Hardt acts as a participant and provides the relevant expertise with regard to hyperloop as a modality to consider within such a global trade network. In total there are 33 parties from 11 countries working within this project.

HYPERNEX

The HYPERNEX project focuses on the need for a catalyst to facilitate the development of the European hyperloop ecosystem and contribute to the convergence of R&D institutions, industry actors, regulators and societal needs with hyperloop developers. The project will improve understanding between hyperloop developers and pave the way for this mode of transport. It has been funded under the EU Horizon 2020 research program as a call within the Shift2Rail framework.

Hardt acts as a participant within this research project and is joined by other hyperloop companies, universities and research institutes from nine different countries. The project has been started in December 2020 and is running until February 2022.

REACT EU

REACT EU is a European instrument brought by in response to the Covid pandemic. The funds are to be used for investments in operations contributing to preparing a green, digital and resilient recovery of the economy. Hardt has been awarded a grant that will help to research how hyperloop can be integrated into the supply chains of logistics service providers.

The grant focuses on a hyperloop route for cargo in the western region of the Netherlands. The REACT EU project builds further on the Cargo-Hyperloop Holland pre-feasibility study that Hardt performed with over 30 stakeholders.

EIC Accelerator

The EIC Accelerator is one of the most selective programs globally. Hardt has been chosen by the program to receive an equity investment, as well as grant funding. The grant will allow Hardt to develop the hyperloop technology into a market-ready product. The equity investment will be used for companywide developments, including the test facility, market research, and route development.

This is the first investment of this kind from the European Commission. We are grateful for this recognition, and looking forward to getting the program’s support on other aspects towards commercialization of our product and services.

EIT InnoEnergy

EIT InnoEnergy is spearheading the way to a decarbonised Europe by 2050. At InnoEnergy, sustainability is about more than lowering emissions. True sustainability also means an industry that’s commercially viable, endlessly innovative, and highly competitive. InnoEnergy makes this possible by supporting sustainable energy innovations which provide industry with risk free, pioneering new technologies that reduce energy costs, increase system performance, decrease greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, create jobs, and increase competitiveness.

MIT Zuid Holland project

Hardt is committed to driving growth in the region of Zuid-Holland where the company is based. This has been supported by means of the MIT subsidy that had been granted to two projects that focused on the following things. From July 2018 to April 2019, Hardt had been investigating the option of a hyperloop for cargo and its requirements, as well as a potential route in Zuid-Holland.
