TEST TRACK

For operational testing the EHC will house a 2.6 km test track with a cargo-scale tube of 1.4m diameter, making it the first facility in Europe to test this revolutionary transport system at high speeds. Here, features like levitation, propulsion, stabilization, cornering, lane switching, and emergency braking will be tested.

LEARNING CENTER

The facility proves the feasibility of technologies through testing and validation, but also serves as a basis for developing safety standards and research and development. The EHC Learning Center provides the perfect environment for this and at the same time offers opportunity for visits.

LOCATION

The European Hyperloop Center (EHC) is intended to open in 2022 in the Dutch province of Groningen. The location lends itself excellently for cross-border collaboration with German partners, but also has a very strong local ecosystem of both public and private parties as well as educational institutions. The province and municipality of Groningen are already leading in the smart mobility field, with the mobility innovation centre Hive.mobility. Therefore Groningen offers the perfect environment for the EHC, and for a clean mobility innovation cluster to flourish.

“The open, knowledge-sharing ecosystem which encourages collaboration between multiple private and public partners is very important to us. Therefore we are very excited to have the Dutch province of Groningen as a partner in this project”

- Tim Houter, CEO Hardt Hyperloop

CENTER OF EXCELLENCE

We accelerate the development of the technology by involving parties with specific knowledge. Implementing a project of this magnitude is not something that any party can tackle alone, our partners play a vital role in this. Hardt’s partners, combined with the existing local ecosystem in Groningen and companies and talent that the EHC will attract towards the region will result in a center of excellence of hyperloop and clean innovative mobility.

“There is a wealth of knowledge and passion within Europe. With the EHC, we bring all this together to develop a single European system”

- Houter
